There are countless nights when the last thing I want to do is go to my jiu-jitsu class. I’m tired, unmotivated, and just not "feeling like it." Jiu jitsu is hard work, which contributes to the barrier. It is physically demanding and a game of mental chess. But the things that make it difficult are also extremely enjoyable and rewarding.
But I have learned something important: once I overcome my initial reluctance to do something difficult and step onto the mat, I am almost always glad I showed up.
The same is true with writing.
