Thanks for this, Jenn! I am not sure if this is the right place to ask, but I would love to hear your thoughts (or the thoughts of the wider PNP community!) about how to use Substack for teaching. I know some folks have used Twitter as a part of teaching and I wonder if there is an opportunity to use Substack similarly. E.g., having students rotate writing duties across the semester...
I would also love to hear if folks are using Substack in teaching! I haven't myself, but I have my students write a scholarly blog post for a couple of my classes and host it on Wordpress. It's publicly available and I randomly get followers and comments on it all the time. Here it is if you want to see it: https://rtfgenderandmediaculture.wordpress.com/
I'd also be happy to share the assignment instructions!
I've been contemplating the idea of public writing for a while but I wasn't sure where to start. The Conversation might be a good place. Thanks for sharing it!
Lovely! I had a great experience with them. Just a heads up: most of the time they are looking for their writers to make the piece relevant with a current event or something that has bubbled up in popular discourses. For example, my article was about my book on women in the UFC and I framed it around a fight that was about to take place and they published it the week of that fight. Good luck!
