Rewind: Wallowing in the Writing Mud
On that Piece of Writing that Keeps Giving You Fits
Today I am rewinding a post from when I was struggling with a piece of writing. The journal article I discussed in this post was recently accepted with minor revisions following a first-round review. I was stunned at this result because that piece of writing gave me fits for a long time. If you are wallowing in the writing mud, I hope the post gives you some solace in knowing that I eventually pulled myself out of the mud.
Sometimes my writing flows across the keyboard like a babbling brook, while the birds of my idea world sing a coherent tune in my head. Other times, my fingers become mired in the muck of my swamp-brain and the argument fails to materialize. Instead of smart solutions for getting out of the mud, today I'm offering a kindred spirit. It's sometimes just comforting to know that others, too, spend time wallowing.
