Join Us!
The PNP Online Writing Sprint starts on Monday! This writing retreat is designed around your unique pace and aspirations. This isn't a one-size-fits-all affair; it's about tailoring the experience to the SMART goals you've set for your writing this week.
Whether you're aiming for an intensive writing marathon or prefer a more measured approach, you have that flexibility. Invest as much or as little time as suits your career and personal life at the moment.
It does not matter how little or how much you want to accomplish; you just have to show up and do it!
We’ll support you and cheer you on, no matter what.
“But I Don’t Have Any Time to Write!”
I get it—this time of year tends to be hectic for all of us as we approach the finish lines of various end-of-term commitments. Balancing the demands of a busy schedule with the desire to make strides in your writing can indeed be challenging. While we often fixate on the major milestones of completing entire projects or chapters, the truth is that incremental progress, even in very small increments, can significantly propel our work forward.
If the thought of joining the writing retreat has crossed your mind, but the excuse of not having enough time is holding you back, I encourage you to reconsider. Instead of dwelling on the time you believe you lack, let's focus on the time you do have. Reflect on the wisdom shared in a previous PNP post, highlighting how just 15-minute blocks sprinkled throughout the week can have a substantial impact on your forward progress:
Seizing this opportunity to immerse yourself in the writing retreat isn't about finding large chunks of time; it's about recognizing the potential within the pockets of time you may have dismissed. Your commitment to even brief writing sessions during this retreat could be the catalyst for significant progress.
So, let's shift our perspective, embrace the available moments, and together, let's propel your writing goals forward!
The Details
What is it?
A flexible online writing retreat centered around SMART goals (specific, measurable, achievable, relevant, and time-bound), consistent check-ins, and facilitated group discussions, fostering a supportive community for productive writing.
When is it?
November 27-December 1
Who can participate?
Any reader with a paid PNP subscription as of 11:59 p.m. CST on November 26th. Because the retreat is asynchronous, you can attend from any time zone. Paid subscriptions are $6 a month, or $60 a year, and include all archived posts and extra events like the writing sprint and office hours.
Do I have to work full-time for the entire five days?
No, you can choose how much time you want to devote to writing on any of the days. If you have other plans or have other commitments, you can adjust your SMART goals for the 5-day sprint accordingly.
It’s extremely flexible! The main focus will be on creating smart goals that you can achieve even with your other commitments.
What is the schedule or commitment for the days you participate?
Check-In 1: You will respond to a daily prompt sent overnight CST about what you want to achieve for the day and any other questions posed by the facilitator.
Writing Period: You will work on your project for a period of time that you set for the day. For some of us, this may mean 7 hours, and for some of us, this may mean 30 minutes. “Writing” means anything associated with the project, such as reading, note-taking, brainstorming, outlining, drafting, editing, proofreading, etc.
Check-in 2: You will reflect on what you achieved for the day, troubleshoot any challenges, and write a comment on at least one other person’s check-in for the day.
What platform will we use to check-in?
We will use the threads function on the Substack platform, which will be visible only to paid PNP subscribers.
How do you participate?
Comment below to let us know you are in and what you would like to do with the time! All paid subscribers will get the check-in prompts each day.
I would like to participate. I don't have a time commitment, but a goal: I need to finish some major revisions.
