Scholarly writers often get stuck in a writing-revising cycle out of fear of changing their minds or discovering new information that could affect how they understand the subject. Because of this fear, we may develop an unquenchable desire for excellence and put off publishing our work until it is absolutely flawless and future-proof.

Thinking deeply about your research is not inherently problematic; however, holding off on sharing your ideas via publication might be.
